My Thoughts on Harry Potter Canon Relationships

Though romance is not the main aspect of the mega-popular Harry Potter series, is is often talked about in the fandom world. Some relationships are adored by fans, while others are hated. Being that the internet has been created, people can now create their own relationships, writing fictions that can make readers think that those couples really existed!

I am going to share what I think about many of the Harry Potter Canon (really happened) reltionships right here! There will likely be a fanon post later, don't worry! :) (Obviously, these opinions will be controversial!)

Starting with: Romione (Ron and Hermione)

This was one of the main canon relationships explored in the series, though it was only really seen when the couple had their first kiss near the end of the Deathly Hallows book. The pair end up happily married, with children.

Now, I will say that many absolutely despise this relationship, and even Rowling herself has said that she regrets making this relationship canon. I do see this side, as I will explain, but I do think that it is slightly underrated. I will give this couple a 5/10 on the scale.

Now, my reasoning! I think the main reason this couple is ranked very low is that people don't see how a girl like Hermione could ever like someone like Ron. Hermione is seen bonding far more often with Harry, which is why this is a popular ship!

Hermione is known as the smart, bookish girl, while the main trait given to Ron is that he loves food. He gets angry and jealous easily, and has gotten into many arguments with both Harry and Hermione.

However, the reason I don't give this couple a lower score is because I do slightly see why they got together! They say opposites attract, and I think Hermione wanted someone who has different interests than her.

Furthermore, the pair clearly care for each other throughout the books (though many say this is in a platonic way). Overall, I think the couple ends up pretty cute in the epilogue, but I really can't see how their journey ended up in marriage.

Next: Hinny (Harry and Ginny)!

I'll go right out and say this: once again I just don't get how this relationship even came to be. I will have to give them a ranking of 3/10 (because at least they love each other?).

Now, this relationship started right at the beginning of Harry's story, but it was one-sided. Ginny always had a mad crush on Harry, and it shows throughout every book. In the Half-Blood Prince, they share their first kiss in the Gryffindor Common Room.

Now, the reason I ranked this one so incredibly low is that Harry really never showed any romantic love towards Ginny. He loved her like a sister, but never as a romantic interest.

I was shocked when he kissed her in the sixth book, because it seemed that even he didn't know why he did it! Maybe their relationship could be good for a few months, but I don't see how they could have gotten married and actually made it last.

Lastly: Arthur and Molly Weasley!

There is not much to say about them, but this was almost the only couple in the entire series that I really loved, and I give them a 9/10 (only because we really don't see too much of them)!

These two are married and have seven children, and still don't seem to have lost any love for each other. I ranked them so highly because they are simply the symbol of a happy wizarding couple that have been through so much!

I also really enjoy the two as separate characters; It's fun to see Arthur's fascination with the muggle world, and it's also fun to see how much love Molly has for all of her children.

Though not much affection is seen between the two, their pure care for their family and each other is quite evident.

During the movies, their small pecks somehow conveyed so much. They are just an ultimate power couple!

Overall, I didn't see much in many of the Harry Potter canon couples, and I am very excited to get into some imagined ones, but there are so many that they could take up multiple posts! Stay tuned, and stay safe!
