Now it's time for the funner stuff! I think most Harry Potter fans can agree that there are some cool couples actually written in the series, but the best comes with Fanon couples; ships created by devout fans. Everyone has some ideas, though some can be more popular than others.
I am just going to get into this right away, because there is so much to talk about! This post will not contain even close to all of the ships out there, but it will have a few popular ones!
Let's start with perhaps the most popular Fanon Harry Potter ship out there: Drarry (Draco x Harry)

Yes, this is a real mug! That's just how popular this one is.
When I finished this series, I was in elementary school and didn't even know what a "ship" was. I just knew I really didn't like the relationships that were shown in the Deathly Hallows' epilogue.
Anyway, when I did delve into the world of fanart and fanfiction, Drarry was one of the first bits I came across, and I was actually quite into the idea at first.
It's a popular thing in the book-verse, the enemies-to-lovers trope. Many question the trueness of the relationships that are created this way, but others find this trope to be interesting and truly perfect.
At first, I was really into Drarry, probably because I had never thought to pair them up and thought they would make an interesting duo. I think part of me still is an avid Drarry Shipper.
However, I give Drarry a 8/10, purely because there just isn't enough development, or, on the opposite spectrum, there isn't too much room to come up with your own story. I also think the things that Harry and Draco did may have shown a bit of forgiveness towards each other, but not enough to justify a relationship. So, I give these two a pretty high rating because of their actions in the seventh book, and just because I can't give them up!
Of course, though, overall, I would be absolutely thrilled if this was part of the books, because anyone who knows me knows that I love Snowbaz (Canon relationship in the Carry On series by Rainbow Rowell, which is similar to Drarry but more developed).
It would have been cool to see some queer representation, especially back when the books were published. Anyway, my next ship is one that I feel very strongly about.
Next: Wolfstar! (Sirius Black x Remus Lupin)
To non-potterheads, these names may not even ring a bell. These men were seen only in the middle of the series, as both of them sadly died before the end of the seventh book.
These men were friends of Harry Potter's dad, James father. They called themselves the Marauders, and their group included James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter Pettigrew. The gang were such good friends that they would die and kill for each other (let's not talk about Peter's deeds for now...
Because these characters are a bit more vague, and their school-age life is not seen clearly, these men were the perfect opportunity for a ship.
We see moments in the real series that show their pure love for each other, and it's honestly not clear whether it's platonic. There is one main moment, their reunion after many years, where the two hug. It's not much, but since there isn't much else to build on, it's a solid enough foundation.
The fanart and fanfiction about these two's supposed relationship is so believable that I simply cannot believe that there was a secret relationship (or only secret to Harry?) going on while the men were at Hogwarts.
I give this ship a 10/10, it is one that I can say I wholeheartedly support. It's always fun to imagine a relatively unproblematic and sweet couple in a different time period than the Harry Potter books take place in!
Now, the last for this post: Dramione! (Draco x Hermione)

For some unknown reason, this is a pretty popular ship too. But I have to say, I just don't get it. I give this ship a 3/10.
I think the reason that people justify the ship is that it would be... interesting? I mean, the two are both pretty good in school, but I think that is their only similarity.
I have seen many impressive edits featuring these two, but, that being said, they are simply edits. I don't see any bonding at all.
At one point, Hermione slaps Draco across the face, and this is usually used in edits, however, this, in my opinion, is not a good path to go down. Romanticizing abuse is not the way to go.
Draco has bullied Hermione many times, to the point where it has really hurt her. They have had very few moments together. Therefore, there is really not too much to say as to why I gave this ship it's very low rating, far lower than Drarry.
With Drarry, we see glimmers of hope for them in the Seventh Book, but for Draco and Hermione there is not much information at all. However, unlike Wolfstar, it's hard to put pieces together for this one.
Let me know what you think of these and other relationships! In a future post I will likely review these relationships: Linny (Ginny x Luna), Harmione (Harry x Hermione) and Drapple (Draco x an Apple). Yes, there are these, and many other stranger ships in the fandom!
